World Music Mural

Year:
2016
Location:
Singapore

In this this mural, we explore the nature in terms of its elements (rhythm, beat, tones, harmony, counterpoint) and the feelings that music generates within us. Listening to a spontaneously generated list of global music we express our reactions to different songs visually using different color palettes, width of line and intensity of color.

The unifying humanity of music is apparent in this work -- each of the seven spontaneously played piece represent different styles and periods of music including jazz, latin, medieval, world, pop and even pan pipes. Each piece is captured as a 1 meter long representation that flows seamlessly into the next piece. The seven songs are repeated three times to complete the 22 meter length of the mural.
