THE PHILOSOPHY OF WINGS

All magnificence asks is that you begin.

Every set of wings I create starts with something that already exists — a silk dress, a suit, a length of hand-dyed fabric. Something beautiful that's ready to become something more.

You might recognise the feeling.

The practice

The practice is always the same three movements:

Clear

What no longer serves. The garment as it was. The shape it held. The function it performed.

Centre

On what matters. The quality of the silk. The intention in the weave. The story the material carries.

Create

What's now needed. Wings that remind you of something you once knew about yourself.

"My medium is transformation itself."

Unicorning®

Building wings,
not just horns.

This is the practice I call Unicorning® — the art of building wings, not just horns. It began as a personal philosophy, became a transformation methodology for leaders and organisations, and returns always to the art.

Because the art is where the philosophy is most visible.

Most contemporary sculpture works with raw material — stone, metal, clay. I work with objects that carry history: a Vivienne Westwood silk that once moved through rooms of power, traditional textiles that hold generations of craft, luxury garments that defined a moment in someone's life.

The engineering matters as much as the expression. Each installation requires structural design, materials testing, weight distribution. Three-dimensional balance on a single point. The wings must float. They must flow. They must hold.

This is what I mean when I say magnificence is not overnight. Magnificence is multi-faceted. Magnificence is always possible.

The connection

In my consulting practice, I help leaders do what I do with silk: look at what they have, identify the 70% that's truly valuable, and build something extraordinary from it. Three days, not three quarters. Because readiness is resilience, and wings are always built from what remains.

The art informs the strategy. The strategy informs the art. Thinkers50 recognised this integration when they named me to their 2026 Radar. It's all one practice.

Magnificence is always possible.

Whether it's a commission, a conversation, or simply standing in front of something magnificent — I'd like to hear from you.
